The construction of a new mega mall in Port Elizabeth has brought much needed infrastructure investment and job creation to the Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan Municipality (NMBM).
The total investment in the development amounted to 1.7 billion rand with further expansions into residential and commercial property on the table. More than 5000 jobs were created in the construction phase. But there was also a focus on developing SMME’s through the project.
The SABC did a case study of a woman who entered the project as a sweeper and now leaves it as an HR director for a SMME.
