The Walvis Bay Corridor Group’s Oshikango Wellness Centre recently underwent an assessment and evaluation on matters concerning quality assurance and operational requirements. The evaluation and assessment were carried out by Namibia’s Institute of Pathology (NIP), in collaboration with that country’s Ministry of Health and Social Services.
The centre has once again passed the assessment and evaluation and recently received its certificate of authorisation. It is thus allowed to continue providing HIV Rapid Testing services to operators within Namibia’s transport sector. The WBCG also has Wellness Centres for the same purposes in Katima Mulilo and Walvis Bay.The WBCG Wellness Service Programme is proactively involved in mainstreaming the HIV/AIDS response by assisting transport companies in Namibia to design and implement workplace HIV/AIDS Wellness interventions.
Through broad membership, the Wellness Service offers a platform that facilitates and supports the fight against HIV/AIDS and the provision of general wellness interventions along Namibia’s corridors. By doing so, it reaches a wide, traditional and generally perceived high HIV and AIDS mobile group within the transport sector of Namibia.
