Evidence of Prasa maladministration and impropriety | Infrastructure news

Public Protector Thuli Madonsela has found evidence of widespread maladministration and impropriety in the awarding of tenders worth R2.8bn at the Passenger Rail Agency of SA (Prasa).

In her report entitled “Derailed”, which was released on Monday, she found that 19 of the 32 complaints were substantiated. The transactions revealed a culture of “systematic failure” to comply with Prasa’s supply chain management policies.

Madonsela found a culture of hiding information at Prasa. The complaints were brought by unions Satawu and National Transport Movement in 2012. The report shows 37 complaints were lodged, but the report only details 32. – News24
