Residents in Devon, east of Johannesburg took to the streets on Monday morning.
The service delivery protest which began last Thursday has escalated, the community of Impumemelo has been living in shacks with poor services for almost two decades.
The provincial government is accused of neglecting their needs. The government has admitted that the roll-out of housing has been delayed but urges the community to be patient.
