The Department of Water and Sanitation is expected to host consultation sessions across the country to allow people an opportunity to submit their inputs on the water pricing strategy.
Water and Sanitation Minister Nomvula Mokonyane has approved the gazetting of the revised pricing strategy for raw water use charges as well as the norms and standards for water tariffs. The revision of the documents intends to achieve a pricing strategy, recover the costs of providing the service and incentivise efficient water use, among other things.It also aims to align the norms and standards with the legislative requirements, National Water Services Regulation Strategy and the principles of the Raw Water Pricing Strategy.
The department has invited all interested parties to attend the Western Cape Water Pricing Strategy, Norms and standards consultation to be held on Thursday at the Department of Water and Sanitation offices at No 52 Voortrekker Road, Bellville. The consultation will take place from 10am to 1.30pm
