UN SG's Advisory Board on Water and Sanitation releases its report - Infrastructure news

An elite UN panel has warned that current water and sanitation infrastructure requires a major overhaul if the world is to meet related objectives in the post-2015 agenda.

The Secretary General’s Advisory Board on Water and Sanitation – was first appointed by Kofi Annan in 2004. It is releasing its very first report in 2015.

The advisory Board is calling for a new intergovernmental panel within the UN system dedicated to resolving emerging water challenges around the world.

The report comes at a time when about 2.5 billion people don’t have basic sanitation and where droughts and other disasters are leading to increased water scarcity, including in South Africa.
