Upington on the truck stop map | Infrastructure news

Engen Petroleum believes Upington is an important refueling and refreshment stopover point, with its new truck stop ideal for those traveling from Kimberly to Namibia, or via Springbok down the West Coast.

“The spacious truck port can comfortably cater for 100 overnight stopovers. Along with a restroom and showers, we offer a laundry, an ATM – so folk don’t have to travel all the way into Upington – a Take-Away, Biltong shop, and an OK Express Supermarket, packed with grocery and convenience items. It sets a standard that we’d like to see replicated in the future,” says Paul Westcott, Engen regional sales manager for commercial fuels.

Although the Engen Upington Truck Stop commenced operations last December, 6 April was hallmarked as its official ‘grand’ opening, which included a one-day Driver Wellness event, offering free health screenings for drivers and educating them about the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Engen says it plans to keep growing its truck stop network where sufficient demand exists.
