Business delivers for distressed Pomfret livestock | Infrastructure news

Animals in the drought-hit town of Pomfret in the Kalahari have been rescued thanks to Barloworld Transport and Meadow Feeds.

The two companies joined forces to help the National Council of SPCAs (NCSPA), which appealed to businesses for assistance. Barloworld Transport delivers feed from all seven of Meadow Feeds’ mills.

The latter donated 10 000 litres of water and 1 080 bags of Sweet Feed, while Barloworld Transport was tasked with delivering the goods safely and on time.

Veterinarians and helpers also lent their hands to the effort, which saw the water – and enough feed for 1 500 cattle, 4 000 goats and 250 equine animals – reach its destination safely.

A local house, cleaned and painted by NSPCA staff, was turned into a makeshift surgery where the vets treated the stricken animals.

Barloworld Transport and Meadow Feeds have also been providing water to the parched farmers of Louis Trichardt.
