What began as a small family venture in 1993 has reaped many rewards for the Pretorius family in Worcester in the Western Cape. The family who own JEC Marketing, a customer-focused group, recently acquired a branch of the FAW Vehicle Manufacturers South Africa group.

FAW signed an agreement with JEC Marketing with the aim to embody a sales point for the group’s trucks in Worcester.

The manufacturing company said its Worcester branch was “now a fully-fledged representative for both sales and service of the entire range of FAW vehicles,” which included medium and heavy vehicles, tippers, mixers, flatbeds and chassis cabs.

The new branch was “key to the company’s strategy for finding opportunities to become more and more accessible to potential customers,” the company said in a statement. Getting closer to high volume zones within the transport sector was also vital to ensuring the customers’ trucks were “up and running with high quality, quick service and maintenance turnaround time”.

FAW said that only highly reputable and respected partners were considered in collaborative business agreements and that this was the case with JEC Marketing.

Father of the family business, Chris Pretorius, said that FAW was chosen as the brand for JEC to venture into new vehicle sales as “they offered good value for money, were easy to service and repair, and were strong and durable.

“From our first Worcester premises we worked extremely hard to gain customers confidence and trust,” he said. Starting off in a new location was not easy, Pretorius added, however the company had grown into a business that had a loyal customer base and offered all services and maintenance, including a wheel alignment and wheel balancing facility, a brakes repair and servicing facility and nine full service bays.

Pretorius also reiterated that the company was not deterred by economic fluctuations, as the focus has always been to look for opportunities to expand the business.
