SAFCEC president talks construction industry issues - Infrastructure news

Alastair Currie, editor of IMIESA magazine, chats to SAFCEC President Thembinkosi Nzimande about some of the key issues facing the South African construction industry.

Nzimande says that there is currently a massive infrastructure constraint on the economy and that the “public purse” is not enough to deliver the desired infrastructure that the country needs. He also notes that the balance sheets of the private sector could be leveraged into public infrastructure, but that very little of this money is being fed into the public sphere, and also touches on SAFCEC’s involvement in developments at a project level. Nzimande shares his thoughts on the future of the industry, saying: “I think the architecture and face of the industry is going to change fundamentally.”
