Zuma to face another no confidence debate - Infrastructure news

President Jacob Zuma

A motion of no confidence in President Jacob Zuma has been scheduled to take place in the National Assembly on Thursday.

The National Assembly is scheduled to host yet another no confidence in President Jacob Zuma which will take place on Thursday.

The Democratic Alliance approached National Assembly Speaker Baleka Mbete in a letter written by the party’s chief whip, John Steenhuisen.

The debate has been requested in the wake of former public protector Thuli Madonsela’s State of Capture report which was released a week ago.

Since the release of the report, Zuma has been under immense scrutiny along with other cabinet members, such as Eskom chief executive Brian Molefe and Mineral Resources Minister, Mosebenzi Zwane.

Steenhuisen received confirmation from Mbete yesterday afternoon saying that the debate was scheduled for Thursday.

Steenhuisen said the debate “comes at a critical juncture in South Africa’s political stages because for the first time since 1994 there’s widespread dissatisfaction across civil society and business over the president and the state capture revelations that have come up following last year’s Nkandla revelation.”
