Concrete is the world’s most widely used construction material, and has proven to be highly polluting, but Walter Feess, CEO at Feess Erdbau, a German firm, has developed a way of recycling old concrete from construction sites.
Feess explains that the plant makes new concrete out of the old bits by following the process of taking rubble from a building demolition, sorting the material to discard foreign matter, and processing it. Up to 90% of everything that comes into the plant, including water used at the plant, gets recycled.“We give the stone, the material, a new life,” says Feess.
The recycling plant allows for visitors from around the world and Feess says he is keen to show everyone who visits the plant how to do what he has done. Source: DW (English)
