Eskom to close five coal fire power stations in 10 years - Infrastructure news

South Africa’s main power supplier Eskom plans to shut down 5 coal power stations over the next 10 years and replace them with renewable energy power plants.

This is part of the integrated resources plan and was thought to be public knowledge. However, employees represented by the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) and the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (NUMSA) say the power utility has not consulted them about job losses or the closure programme.
