While the address by Brian Molefe, Eskom CEO and public enterprises minister Lynne Brown was highly anticipated at this year’s African Utility Week conference, both were a no show.

However, the power utility’s chairman Ben Ngubane addressed delegates. He highlighted that the business of securing electricity at an affordable rate to Africa will largely depend on a collaboration between African countries, and also mentioned that an unstable supply of electricity costs African countries between 2% – 4% of their annual GDP.
