The planned interruption, which will allow Johannesburg Water to do a tie-in to the existing 1000mm pipeline next to the Zondi reservoir, is expected to start at 6am on Tuesday and last until 4pm on Thursday.

“The planned shutdown is envisaged for 58 hours. Customers living within the reservoir zone may be affected a couple of hours after the commencement of the shutdown and customers living within the tower zone will be affected immediately after the commencement of the shutdown,” the city said.

The areas that will be affected by the shutdown include:

Emndeni, Naledi, Tladi, Dobsonville, Parts of Jabulani, Zondi, Zola, Parts of Mofolo North, Mmesi Park and Protea North.

Johannesburg Water’s Eleonor Mavimbela said 18 Mobile water tankers will be roaming in the affected areas and 14 stationery tankers will be placed at Clinics, Shopping Centres and other strategic places.

“We apologise to residents for the inconvenience caused. Residents are encouraged to subscribe on our website, to our SMS notification service for alerts on planned or unplanned service interruptions,” she said.
