The KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison Mxolisi Kaunda has condemned the killing of Department of Transport employee Muntuwenkosi Shange.
Shange, a Field Support Officer responsible for road maintenance, was killed on duty in Mahlabathini near Ulundi on Tuesday. According to the department Shange was allegedly on a site visit to check on a grader when he was shot at by unknown men. The suspects fled the scene with the Department’s vehicle and Shange succumbed to gun-shot wounds at A-Section clinic in Ulundi. Kaunda expressed his heartfelt condolences to the family of Shange and urged the police to work around the clock to bring the suspects responsible for this gruesome murder to book. “It is unacceptable that criminals rob us of our hard working and dedicated public servants. The attack of civil servant in the line of duty is unfortunate and must be condemned in the strongest possible terms as it hampers service delivery,” said Kaunda.Transport MEC condemns attacks on civil servants
