N Cape desalination plant in Kamiesberg stands idle

In a twist of irony, a desalination plant commissioned and built by the Kamiesberg Local Municipality in the Northern Cape to assist during the drought, is now standing idle because of the drought. The plant is meant to process harsh underground water, but the levels has dropped to such an extent that it the plant can’t be used.
