SA and Nigeria to share best practices for water | Infrastructure news

The Department of Water and Sanitation and the Nigerian Integrated Water Resources Management Commission are set to meet this week in the spirit of knowledge sharing.

The Department will host the NIWRMC at the Vaal Dam on Wednesday 18 April 2018, as part of a technical study tour of South Africa to share water regulatory best practices.

The meeting will also allow both countries to exchange water governance strategies according to the Department.

The Department has earmarked the following as areas of interest that are up for discussion include:

  • Water Use Authorisation Process,
  • Water Regulatory System,
  • Dam Safety Office/Deputy Director Office,
  • Corporate Services,
  • Electronic Water Use Licence Application and Authorisation System (eWULAAS)
  • National Integrated Water Information System (NIWIS),
  • Water Tribunal processes,
  • Water Use Licence Registration and Revenue Collection (WARMS), and
  • Water Billing System processes.
