Middledrift Water Treatment Works progressing well – Department | Infrastructure news

The Department of Water and Sanitation says the second phase of the Middledrift Water Treatment Works is underway and progressing well.

According to the department the on-going construction of the Middledrift Water Treatment Works in KwaZulu-Natal is one of its foremost water projects.

The Middledrift Water Treatment Works is within King Cetshwayo District Municipality and covers the south eastern section of Nkandla and the western section of the Eshowe.

The 20 megalitre water treatment works is being constructed in two phases. The first phase has been completed and currently supplies 10 megalitres of water to communities within uMlalazi local municipality and Nkandla local municipalities.

The second phase, which is currently under construction, will supply the balance of 10 megalitres. Once completed, the Middledrift Water Treatment Works will provide water to 162 776 beneficiaries.
