The eThekwini Community Services Committee has approved the implementation of the Air Quality Management Plan (AQMP).
The Air Quality Management Plan, which is a strategic document linked to the Municipality’s Integrated Development Plan, seeks to achieve compliance with air quality objectives and ensure that ambient air is not harmful to the health and wellbeing of the people of eThekwini.Under the plan the City has set aside R3.5 million for the implementation of interventions as stipulated in the AQMP. Some of the interventions include the refurbishment and replacement of aging air quality monitors.
“This will greatly contribute to the improvement of the quality of life for the people of eThekwini,” the municipality notes.
