Collapsed culvert closes Joburg road | Infrastructure news

The Johannesburg Roads Agency has closed a section of Peter Road near Walnut Street in Ruimsig as a matter of urgency due to a collapsed culvert.  

The announcement comes after an inspection by JRA engineers, identified the road as unsafe for travel.  The agency has installed barricades along the road and erected signage closing off the road for the safety of road users.

Emergency repairs scheduled  

“JRA is aware of the inconvenience for road users and consequently emergency repairs are scheduled to begin later this week.

“Exact time frames for completion will be communicated shortly. A water tanker will be brought in to deal with the dust along Walnut and Cypress streets as an interim measure for traffic diversions,” the JRA a said in a statement.

The JRA apologised for the temporary inconvenience and reassured road users that the urgent reinstatement of the road was a top priority.
