Since the news of Environmental Affairs Minister Dr Edna Molewa’s passing, tributes from around the world have been pouring in acknowledging the late minister’s contribution to the fight for a cleaner world.
Molewa passed away on Saturday 22 September 2018 at the age of 61 following a brief battle with a virus she contracted on a trip to China. - Advocating for a science-based approach to conservation and biodiversity decision-making that resulted in the transfer of the National Zoological Gardens from the National Research Foundation to the South African Biodiversity Institute
- Heading up the lead department driving Operation Phakisa: Oceans Economy
- The drafting and adoption of South Africa’s national climate-change response policy in 2011
- Working tirelessly to tirelessly to ensure that the historic Paris Agreement to Combat Climate Change was adopted
