The Keimoes community near Upington has shut down activities at the Scatec solar plant, where a road leading to the new 258-megawatt site is being constructed. It’s accusing the company of failing to employ local sub-contractors and general workers. The construction of the plant by the Norwegian Renewable energy company Scatec is expected to cost around R4.7 billion rands.
