EThekwini’s eNgonyameni water project well underway | Infrastructure news

Residents of eNgonyameni in the eThekwinin Municipality will soon have access to safe drinking water thanks to a multi-million rand water project currently being implemented by the city.

The eThekwini Municipality announced on Wednesday that it had started with is R6 million water tap installation project in the community of Esidweni Village at eNgonyameni, near uMlazi.

The project is set to ensure that residents no longer have to walk long distances to access clean water.

According to eThekwini councillor Bheki Phungula the project places a greater focus on household access to water, meaning each family will have access to running water from a tap inside their yard.

The water tap installation project, which started last year August, is expected to be completed by July this year. The contractor is currently installing infrastructure such as pipelines.

Councillor Phungula added that the community is overjoyed with the project. “The feeling is mutual, I am also elated as it is my duty to ensure that all residents in this community have access to basic services,” he said.
