Johannesburg mayor Herman Mashaba has assured Johanessburg residents that his administration is committed to improving infrastructure in the city.
Mashaba was addressing City’s officials at a meeting following his State of the City Address reports Midrand Reporter. The mayor said the city’s main focus is on infrastructure development and urged city workers to service the community with pride. “Let us create a culture of service and service with pride. Let’s give back power to the people. We must be accountable to them,” said Mashaba. “Also, at the same time, we must focus on infrastructure development particularly repairs and maintenance.”Mashaba said the focus should be on improving the city’s infrastructures. He added that the city will spend more on maintenance and repairs.
“We focus on changing street names and building names but the infrastructure is collapsing. Since 1994, the previous administration never spent a single cent on repairs and maintenance. “If you don’t spend money on repairs and maintenance you can imagine what happens to the infrastructure. We need to increase our spending on repairs and maintenance.”
