Walvis Bay boosts sewer and drainage maintenance with Werner Pumps’ jetting trailer, strengthening reliable service delivery.
The Municipality of Walvis Bay in Namibia has strengthened its sewer and drainage maintenance capabilities with the addition of a South African-manufactured Werner Pumps jetting trailer to complement its existing Werner Pumps combination jetting and vacuum truck.
According to Immanuel Gabriel, Foreman: Reticulation in the Department of Water, Waste Liquid and Environmental Management, the decision to invest again in Werner Pumps equipment was influenced by the quality and reliability of the first unit.“Having had the current combi unit for some time now, we had a good experience with its performance and with the after-sales support from Werner. Because of this, we opted to use Werner specifications to acquire the jetting trailer,” says Gabriel.
Meeting municipal needs through robust design
The Municipality first procured the Werner Pumps combination unit via an open national bidding process, with the company contracted to build a robust solution through local supplier Hino Pupkewitz. The unit has since become a vital part of Walvis Bay’s infrastructure maintenance programme, handling tasks including sewerage pipeline maintenance and cleaning of pump station sumps. The addition of the jetting trailer has further improved capacity. “We mostly use the truck for cleaning and the trailer to unblock sewer lines,” Gabriel explains. “Together, they enable us to service pump station sumps that are more than six to eight metres deep, and to ensure uninterrupted service delivery to our residents.”Quality and support that keep customers coming back
For Gabriel, what stands out about Werner Pumps is not only the equipment itself but also the support behind it.“Quality and timely support when needed from the team are what encouraged us to come back as a customer,” he says.Werner Pumps’ Earl 4-Cylinder Trailer is designed for heavy-duty performance, with a 600-litre UV-protected service water tank, a Werner positive displacement self-priming high-pressure pump, and fully adjustable hose reels, making it ideally suited for municipal applications.
