WasteCon is the biennial conference of the Institute of Waste Management of Southern Africa (IWMSA) and is the premier platform for showcasing best practices and sustainable solutions in waste and resource management. WasteCon 2026 will be taking place on 20-22 October 2026 at Emperors Palace in Johannesburg.

The technical programme is still in the early stages of development and will predominantly consist of 30-minute slots for the presentation of abstracts or papers.

We would also like to include extended presentations, panel discussions, interactive workshops etc and we invite you to submit your suggestions and proposed contributions for these. Consideration must be given to the theme of the conference, and alignment with one or more of the topics.

Kindly NOTE Abstract Submissions will open in early February 2026, and therefore please do not respond to this call if you are planning to submit an abstract and/or paper. Sponsorship and exhibition opportunities are now available, and delegate registration is officially open.
