Sarens South Africa is strengthening its service offering with the addition of material handling equipment capabilities, broadening the support available to clients across South Africa and Southern Africa.

The expansion builds on Sarens’ established presence in crane rental, specialised transport, engineering, and project management. With material handling equipment now being added to its local fleet, the company is positioned to support a wider range of site, project, and general rental requirements through a more integrated approach.

The new offering includes forklifts, cherry pickers, scissor lifts, and telehandlers as core equipment categories. Specialised equipment can also be arranged depending on project requirements, allowing Sarens South Africa to respond to varied operational needs across construction, industrial, logistics, manufacturing, and project environments.

For clients, the development means that several related equipment requirements can now be managed through one partner. A project may require a combination of crane rental, specialised transport, engineering support, project management, and material handling equipment. In other cases, the requirement may be limited to a few telehandlers on site for several months, or a forklift for a short-term rental period.

This flexibility is central to the expansion. By adding material handling equipment to its existing scope, Sarens South Africa can support both large project-based requirements and smaller day-to-day rental needs.

The material handling equipment will be housed at Sarens South Africa’s new depot in New Germany, Pinetown, KwaZulu-Natal. The company moved into the facility on 17 June, with the branch expected to be fully functional by 1 July. The bulk of the new machinery is expected to arrive around mid-July.

The location gives Sarens a stronger operational base in KwaZulu-Natal while supporting the wider group’s activities across the region. It also strengthens the company’s ability to respond to client requirements from a local depot.

The expansion comes at a time when clients are increasingly looking for practical, scalable equipment solutions that can match the demands of changing workloads, project timelines, and site conditions. Material handling equipment plays an important role in keeping sites and operations moving, particularly where lifting, access, loading, movement, and short-distance handling requirements overlap.

While the new fleet is still being brought into operation, the intention is clear: Sarens South Africa aims to be considered for a broader range of tenders, projects, and general work requirements across South Africa and Southern Africa.

The long-term goal is for Sarens to become recognised not only for crane rental and specialised transport, but also as a reliable partner for material handling equipment. With the addition of MHE to its local operations, Sarens South Africa is extending its capability to support clients with a more complete equipment solution from a single point of contact.
