Rand Water wishes to inform customers and stakeholders of a power outage/power dip at its Zuikerbosch and Lethabo Pumping Stations, which receive electricity supply from Eskom. The incident occurred on Monday, 28 September 2026 at approximately 09h45. Power was restored at approximately 11h20 on the same day and pumping operations have resumed. It is important to note that, even though power was restored at 11h20, water systems recovery require an additional four (4) hours to reach full recovery.

The interruption temporarily affected water supply to the Palmiet, Eikenhof, Zwartkopjes and Vereeniging–Vanderbijlpark–Sasolburg (VVS) Systems. Customers supplied by these systems may experience reduced water pressure or complete interruptions to water supply until normal operations are restored.

As a result, customers in the Cities of Johannesburg, Ekurhuleni and Tshwane, as well as the Mogale City (Kagiso), Rand West, Merafong, Rustenburg, Madibeng, Thembisile Hani, Emfuleni, Metsimaholo and Ngwathe Local Municipalities and the Royal Bafokeng Administration, may experience water supply disruptions. Various industries, mines and other direct Rand Water customers may also be affected.

Rand Water is closely monitoring the recovery progress of the affected systems and working to restore normal operations as quickly as possible. Rand Water is committed to providing uninterrupted, high-quality bulk potable water to ALL its customers.
