Multimillion pound deal entered into by Viridor and ECO Plastics | Infrastructure news

Waste management company Viridor and plastics recycler ECO Plastics have entered into a multimillion pound deal that will see Viridor supply ECO Plastics with 10 000 tonnes of plastic bottles this year.

The two companies announced their 12 month deal today. According to ECO Plastics Deputy Chairperson Jonathan Short, announcing the deal today was strategic because it marked the latest phase in the company’s plan to offer more strategic long-term partnerships.

The deal means that approximately 35% of ECO Plastic’s feedstock is sourced through long-term partnerships. This puts the company closer to its plan to source up to 70% of its feedstock through long-term partnerships by the end of the year.

Short believes that these long-term arrangements will offer the company greater supply certainty.

“Obviously a contract of this size is important for us, and we’re delighted to be partnering with one of the UK’s leading waste management companies in Viridor,” he said.

The 10 000 tonnes of plastic will be processed at the company’s Hemswell bottling facility in Lincolnshire.
