The Wind Energy Summit South Africa will be held in Cape Town, on 9 and 10 April.

The summit brings together the key decision makers of South African wind, including the National Treasury and the Department of Environmental Affairs, NERSA, Eskom, Rand Merchant Bank, Gestamp Wind, Siemens and Suzlon.

At the event Eskom will host a debate on grid connectivity and risk absorbance and a senior level panel involving the DEDEAT, UNEP, REEEP, One World, and the WWF will address the core Social Economic Empowerment (SEE) issues.

Enel Green Power will hold a high-level debate to discuss how to drive down the cost of onshore wind in a competitive yet sustainable way. Mark Tanton, CEO of Red Cap, Mike Peo, Head of Infrastructure, Energy & Telecommunications of Nedbank Capital and Alastair Campbell, Managing Director of Vantage GreenX will join Antonio Cammisecra, Head of Business Development for Enel Green Power in the debate.

The summit will also explore exclusive insight, best practice and case studies including:

  • government commitment to future rounds
  • meeting complex legislative demands
  • supply chain and local content requirements
  • cost reduction within a volatile currency.
