Nigeria’s first green building will soon be constructed in Lagos, promising a substantial energy use reduction and environmentally friendly approaches.
The Heritage Place is the first commercial building to achieve the Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) certification in both design and construction in Nigeria. Situated close to the Lagos CBD, the building will be 14 floors and will provide over 15 730 m2 of office space. The building promises a 30% to 40% reduction in energy use compared to that of other buildings in Lagos. To achieve this, the complex will include several environment-friendly approaches such as water recycling and re-use, automatic presence detectors and high efficiency lighting, building orientation to maximize natural light and ventilation and high efficiency glazing and external thermal envelope.The landmark development will be equipped with state-of-the-art finishes and facilities such as raised floors and suspended ceilings, high space efficiency, reception area, meeting rooms, café/ coffee shop and a plaza.
