Monitoring insulation integrity | Infrastructure news

NewElec offers a range of electronic motor protection relays which monitor the insulation integrity of protected motor windings and feeder cable cores to earth while the motor is standing.  By using the EC relay the main contactor is prevented from closing the circuit in which the insulation level to earth is below the permissible level. The selected lockout relay model determines the minimum value of insulation level that is acceptable.

The relay is typically used in areas where use of plant and equipment is seasonal, where motors are subjected to hosing down such as in abattoirs, or where high condensation occurs in standby equipment and often in coastal areas.

EC relays are suitable for use on both cables and motors starting DOL or Star Delta. LEDs indicate healthy and faulty status.
