Major progress to the SR 520 Eastside Transit and HOV Project was accomplished during the weekend closure of SR 520 from June 1-4, 2012. Crews worked around the clock during the closure to set concrete girders for a new lidded overpass at Evergreen Point Road, demolish the old overpass at 92nd Avenue Northeast.
The SR 520 Eastside Transit and HOV Project is widening SR 520 from four to six lanes from Medina to Bellevue and includes rebuilding interchanges, installing fish-friendly culverts, and building highway lids and transit stops in the center of the highway. In 2010, WSDOT awarded the $306 million design-build contract to Eastside Corridor Constructors, a joint venture of Granite Construction Company and PCL Construction Services.
