Smart technology to construct Kenya’s Konza City | Infrastructure news

Developers of proposed Konza City technopolis will use smart technology to build infrastructure under the project’s first phase.

Chief executive officer of the Konza Technopolis Development Authority John Tanui said smart concepts will be designed into the city using state-of-the-art internet and telecommunications networks to enhance its efficiency and integrate infrastructure and services.

In a statement, he said that the city will use a single converged internet protocol network to plan, build and manage operations, The Star reported.

It is expected to add value to the city’s operational efficiency and will include management of transport, sanitary and waste collection and treatment, operations of storm and drainage, water treatment and operations, electrical systems and informational signs and landscaping.

Phase one of the Konza City, which was launched in December 2014 is expected to create over 20 000 jobs upon completion.

The whole project will take over 20 years, and will be in four phases constructed on a 5000-acre piece of land.
