EThekwini recycling programme back on track | Infrastructure news

The eThekwini Municipality’s kerbside recycling programme is back on track with services resuming in the city this week.

The municipality was forced to suspend its domestic recycling programme earlier this year after MPact, the City’s recycling partner, shut down operations to repair its recycling plant which was damaged during the wave of severe storms that struck the province late last year.

“Our Cleansing and Solid Waste Unit wishes to inform residents that the domestic recycling programme will resume in the affected areas as from Monday, 5 February 2018,”the municipality said in a statement.

The Municipality thanked residents for their continued support and participation in the programme and reminded residents to continue using clear bags for all recyclables as they are still experiencing challenges with the supply of orange bags.

“The City remains committed to practicing proper waste management through reducing, reusing and recycling,” the municipality concluded.
