Millions of litres of water are lost as a result of alien invasive plants which flourish in dam catchment systems. Scientists from the South Africa Environment Observation Network say proper water catchment rehabilitation and management would help in a water resilience programme. Dr. Jasper Slingsby and researcher Mark Botha say the City of Cape Town is uniquely positioned to garner funds through bulk tariffs to step up such a programme.
