Partnering for water conservation | Infrastructure news

The eThekwini Municipality is partnering with the Pavilion Shopping Centre to increase awareness of the need to value water and use it wisely.

Together the City and the shopping centre will be hosting a Water Wise Weekend event which will bring 20 eThekwini high schools together to present and demonstrate eco-friendly ways to help reduce water usage.

During this event, which is taking place from 18 – 19 August 2018, municipal officials will be available for shoppers to raise any utility service related queries like electricity, water, rates and revenue.

The City’s partnership with The Pavilion comes at a time when the Centre is transforming its rest-rooms into modern, vibrant facilities which will cater for the needs of the shoppers, whilst optimising energy efficiency.

“The upgrade has been planned along smart, environmentally responsible building principles,” says Nisha Kemraj, General Manager of The Pavilion.

“Through this valuable partnership with the city, we are able to assist in creating awareness of sustainable practices among the youth and in the communities in which we operate,” she said.
