Dube Trade Port set for R18bn expansion - Infrastructure news

The Dube Trade Port Special Economic Zone in KwaZulu-Natal is set for an R18 billion expansion thanks to a recently unveiled investment.

The port, which continues to experience an unprecedented wave of investments, has already created thousands of jobs and contributed immensely to the provincial fiscus since opening its doors in 2010.

This trend that looks set to continue thanks with the recently unveiled R18 billion that will form part of the second phase expansion plan of the Dube Trade Port Special Economic Zone.

This second phase will bring an additional 45 hectares of prime light industrial land within the port.

“The site will serve as the foundation of Dube Trade Port’s next phase of investment attraction, which is projected to total close to R20 billion over the next 5 years,” Economic Development MEC Sihle Zikalala said.

Zikalala said this heralded more good news for the growth and prosperity of the province.

“If the massive success of the first phase of the Dube Trade Port Special Economic Zone which we launched in 2010 is anything to go by, we are doubtless that the second phase will surpass all expectations,” he added.
