Train manufacturers from around the world have a few days left to submit their bid to win the multi billion rand tender from the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA).
The tender involves the replacing of Metrorail’s fleet of trains over a period of 10 years. PRASA’S Piet Sebola this week said that all bids must be submitted by no later than Sunday afternoon.“Manufacturers around the world have been invited for this particular bid. They have to tell us what type of train they can bring to us. Of course, they must also commit to constructing a South African factory that will be up and operational by 2016.”
According to Sebola, the top international manufacturers are competing to win the tender.
