World Environment Day celebrated by Z-CARD® clients | Infrastructure news

The main purpose of World Environment Day is to encourage humanity to take collective responsibility and support the conservation of the world and its resources. Activities that take place are thus centred on the education and awareness of recycling campaigns and strategies that are implemented to ensure the minimisation of waste products.

This year’s theme for World Environment Day, celebrated annually on June 5, is ‘think, eat, save and reduce your footprint’.

Playing its part in this initiative is Total South Africa, which has had a 100% recyclable Z-CARD® produced to generate awareness around World Environment Day amongst its employees.

Total South Africa has ensured that its Z-CARD® is even more retainable, with the addition of a magnet on the back cover.

Lynette Abraham, Total South Africa’s, HSEQ Environmental Specialist, says, “Our employees can put the Z-CARD® on their fridge or somewhere in their work station, ensuring that it will not be thrown away.”

Abraham explains that the cards not only generate awareness around World Environment Day, but also provide employees with useful tips for waste conservation including how to waste less food, grow their own food garden at home, make their own compost, re-use household items and conserve water and electricity.

Concludes Abraham, “The front cover of the Z-CARD® has a pouch which contains seeds to enable our employees to grow their own vegetable garden, thus ensuring environmental sustainability in the future. ‘Desk trees’ will also be given to employees to spread the message.”
