A major shuffle of harbour masters is taking place at Transnet National Ports Authority’s eight ports.

The shuffle has been necessitated by Captain Dennis Mqadi, Harbour Master port of Durban, taking a new tack with a promotion to Executive Manager: SHE and Oversight in the Authority’s Legal and Compliance department.

Captain Mqadi will be replaced by Captain Alex Miya, Harbour Master Port of Saldanha for the past four years.

Captain Quinton Brink who has been a Harbour Master at the Port of Mossel Bay for the past five years is transferred to Saldanha Bay.

Captain SabeloMdlalose of Cape Town is transferred to Richards Bay while Captain Vernal Jones of Richards Bay is transferred to Cape Town.

There are two promotions to the position of Harbour Master. Captain Gugu Dube, currently deputy Harbour Master- Vessel Traffic Services – Port of Richards Bay, who succeeds Captain NareshSewnath as Harbour Master at East London.

Other senior appointments in the office of the Chief Harbour Master are Mr. Eugene Rappetti, Marine Operations Manager Port of Durban who takes up the position Senior Marine Operations Manager and Captain Naresh Sewnath who becomes Senior Harbour Master.
