At the Black Business Quarterly (BBQ) Awards, Siyabonga Gama the Chief Executive of Transnet Freight Rail received the Public Sector Visionary Award.

The Motlekar Holdings BBQ Awards, South Africa’s most prestigious and longest running black business awards ceremony, has for the past 12 years celebrated and recognised champions of transformation. The Awards encourage and promote sustainable black business through the recognition of leadership and achievement.

According to the judges, Gama received the award as a testament to his astute business acumen and entrepreneurial spirit. In addition to providing an environment conducive for black owned and managed businesses to thrive, he has transformed TFR, a company which used to reports yearly losses averaging 21 million ZAR in 1995 to reporting a profit of 5,1Billion ZAR for the 2013/2014 financial year.
