A record of 1m-TEU for African port | Infrastructure news

The Mombasa port in East Africa, achieved a record throughput of one million TEUs in the year ending 31 December 2014.

This is a significant increase from 2013 in which 894 000 TEUs were handled by the port. This major milestone places it among the top 120 ports in the world out of over 5 000, according to managing director Gichiri Ndua.

It is currently ranked among the top five container ports in Africa, he added, pointing to several notable improvements achieved in 2014.
