The Nampula to Cuamba road in Mozambique is now set to be completed over a year later than scheduled, despite promises that paving and repair work would be done by the August 2014 deadline.
According to the public works and housing deputy minister, Francisco Pereira, the resurfaced stretch of 348 km will now be opened in October 2015.The estimated R3.13 billion project to repair and pave the road was awarded to three companies, two from China and one from Portugal.
It is being financed by the government of Mozambique and partners, Japanese International Cooperation Agency, the African Development Bank and South Korea’s Export-Import Bank.
