1 dead, 12 injured in cargo train derailment in Moz | Infrastructure news

It was confirmed on Friday 20 February by Mozambican ports and rail company, CFM (Compagnie Ferroviaire du Mozambique), that one person had died following the derailment of a cargo train transporting coal in Mozambique on Thursday 10 February.

According to a press release issued by CFM, along with the fatality, 12 people were injured when the mixed passenger and goods train derailed in Magude district, about 146 kilometres north of Maputo.

The 12 injured people were taken for medical treatment at the Magude district hospital. CFM has set up a commission of inquiry to establish the causes of the accident, and is currently working at the scene of the derailment.
