An R130 million investment has been made by a South African company in the rehabilitation of a seven kilometre section of National Road 4 (EN4) in Matola, Mozambique.
With a 30-year contract concluded with the government of Mozambique, Trans-African Concessions (TRAC), operates the 570km EN4 that links the port of Maputo to the South African industrial city of Witbank. TRAC is a founder member of the Maputo Corridor Logistics Initiative.The road is one of the main access routes to Maputo, with over 48 000 vehicles per day making use of it. But overloaded trucks have deteriorated much of the asphalt in the Matola area.
