According to a statement released by the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA), the upgrade of the customs clearance system, known as ASYCUDA (Automated System for Customs Data), which commenced last week is currently facing some technical challenges.
The statement says that the Authority is currently in the process of rectifying the challenges so that normal online transactions can continue. It further says that alternative measures have been put in place at all ports of entry and exit, in order to facilitate the smooth movement of cargo and reduce inconveniences, although it doesn’t detail what these measures are.
The association apologised and urges affected parties to approach their respective station managers to deal with any resultant challenges during what ZIMRA calls a “transitional” period.
