Striking municipal bus drivers used buses to block Durban’s N2 highway on Monday, the city’s metro police department said.
Sibonela Mchunu said the strike began around noon. Drivers were also blocking roads adjacent to the N2. “It appears the roads are being blocked by transport coming from the Ntuzuma depot,” he said.On some roads, drivers had parked their buses and disembarked. On other roads, they were driving extremely slowly. Metro police officers were trying to prevent the drivers from reaching the CBD, he said. The reason for the strike was not immediately clear.
