Trailer acquisition targets the aftermarket | Infrastructure news

BPW Axles has acquired a majority stake in national trailer parts and accessories distributor, the JMR Trailer Parts Group.

According to BPW, the objective of the acquisition is to create supply chain synergies and efficiencies between the two companies, while assisting its global drive into the aftermarket. The company further states the acquisition will enable it to expand its product solutions for transport companies.

Prior to 2015, the BPW Group’s direct involvement in the aftermarket was limited to European countries outside Germany. However, since 2015, it has established a spare parts presence within Germany through its subsidiaries. Locally, it recently acquired a majority stake in PE Automotive GmbH & Co. KG.

Considered a member of the BPW Group, JMR will continue to operate under its own brand name. Its head office will remain in Alrode, albeit a kilometre away from its current premises, to a larger facility.

Both companies will retain their autonomy in terms of staff, structure and culture in the interest of continuity. BPW applies an integration approach for new partners, which is based on retaining a decentralised group structure.

The BPW Group should open new doors for JMR and its customers, who will now have access to European dealers. It will also allow JMR to develop a wider national footprint with more branches while forging closer ties with other distribution partners.
